In a report released today, Daniel Kurnos from Benchmark Co. assigned a Buy rating to InterNAP (NASDAQ: INAP), with a price target of $28. The company’s shares closed yesterday at $17.02.
Kurnos commented:
“We view this as yet another example of CEO Pete Aquino executing efficiently on his public game plan, which still has significant legs. We have published frequently on the likelihood that Internap would make a tuck-in or scaling acquisition as early as 4Q17, so this announcement shouldn’t come as a surprise. Furthermore, with Pete Aquino’s rolodex as the driving force of the internal turnaround, his ability to find a sub-scale business and acquire it at a reasonable valuation multiple, while also bringing SingleHop’s CEO on as CMO of Internap, shouldn’t come as a surprise either. This deal also highlights management’s ability to creatively use the balance sheet (or, in this case, someone else’s balance sheet) to continue repairing the perceived holes in the business, with the deal also bringing geographic benefits (Chicago, New York and Phoenix) in addition to operational ones. From a high-level perspective, the acquisition appears to be sound, in our view.”
