Mylan lawsuit. A lawsuit filed Thursday by the Self-Insured Schools of California accuses EpiPen manufacturer Mylan and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries of conspiring to charge higher prices for a generic asthma medication, Axios reported, the second time this year the company has been accused of price gouging.
In April, Mylan (NASDAQ-MYL) was named in a class-action racketeering lawsuit that alleged the skyrocketing price of the EpiPen, used by patients to mitigate severe allergic reactions, was the result of Mylan paying rebates for pharmacies' benefit.
The price of the drug rose from $57 a shot in 2007 to $600 for a two-pack.
In September 2016, Mylan CEO Heather Bresch defended both her company ’s EpiPen pricing and her $18 million salary when she testified before a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing.

Female representation. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky told lawmakers that going forward, at least one woman will attend all meetings of the working group drafting the Senate’s health care reform bill.
Critics had voiced concern that the discussion would lack consideration of women’s health issues if the female Senators weren’t part of the group.
Sen. Shelley Moore Capito(R-W.Va.), attended a Tuesday meeting of the group and Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst was part of the discussion on Thursday, The Hill reported.
Other Republican female Senators who could attend the meetings include Maine Sen. Susan Collins, Nebraska Sen. Deb Fischer and Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski.
A place at the table. Health care providers unhappy about the House’s proposed $880 billion in cuts to Medicaid said they expect to have more influence as the Senate formulates their version of health care reform bill.
