Ivax To Pay Shareholders A Dividend

Ivax Corp. shareholders got a small treat on Monday when the company declared its first cash dividend. The six-year-old Miami pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals firm said it would pay a dividend of 2 cents per share on June 1 to shareholders who own the stock as of May 14. Plans call for Ivax to pay a dividend twice a year. Ivax Chairman Phillip Frost had hinted at the possibility of a token dividend at the annual meeting in October. He said it would satisfy the needs of some shareholders who seek income from their investments.
