Perhaps not even so coded. After all, an unhappy owner of Opko stock recently emailed Frost and suggested that maybe he should focus on shareholder value. To which the reply was that he thought they were doing that, shown by share purchases.

So, per usual, Frost demonstrates that he has little idea how to run a public company by his response. He misses the point. Shareholders want him to DO SOMETHING to improve the company's operational and structural profile. You know, maybe cut all salaries of senior management until the company makes a profit. He could start with reducing his own comp to $1, Jane's to $100,000, Rubin's to $100,000, and Logal's to $250,000 (that's generous, but he actually does have an identifiable function, namely preparing financial statements). Then, if they manage the company to a profit, they get more comp. Slashing the ridiculous C suite overhead is an obvious down payment to show alignment with shareholders. But the DO SOMETHING part means a lot more. Instead of spending even one minute to call a broker, or answer an email to buy stock on a down day (his email box is probably full with such messages), shareholders want to move on from the rotting smell of a corpse that Opko has become. Quarter after quarter of stagnant results, where any progress is so incremental that the time to better days needs an astronomical clock for measurement. 

The man has bought stock all the way down from the mid/high teens, and the only result is that the share price has continued to fall, and the value of his holdings has declined. Bigly. We don't want or need him to buy stock. If he really doesn't understand that, it's likely because he's too focused on adding another 1/240th to his ownership position to do something important. Like sell the lab, sell the overseas subsidiary, stop entering into phony deals with barely solvent partners (ENTX, NXPL), and sell a portion of future Ngenla revenue either back to PFE or to the highest royalty bidder. Then announce a buyback up to $1 billion dollars. The announcement itself will raise the price of the stock. Then, embark on a road show with the largest healthcare investors, where you explain the structure and functioning of the new company, renamed ModeX Therapeutics. A simple company with a still huge amount of cash, 50 % less shares, with the goal of retiring an additional 10%, and a revenue stream comprised of pharma products only. On an annual basis, model the gross profit share revenues from the retained % ownership of Ngenla, share it with investors, and emphasize that it's 100% profit. With Rayaldee, if revenue is < $50 million annual run rate for two years, then sell it, for whatever you can get.

Yup, this is all harder than calling your bookie and spending another million on your penny stock. But, after you do these things, it won't be a penny stock anymore.
