After 233 Yrs of Elections, We Still Can't Get It Right?

1789 Washington was unopposed in our first election. Much has been written about who could vote, who couldn't vote, but as if it were not of note, how they voted.
They voted on a day. Not 2 days, not 50 days. And they voted on a paper ballot stuffed in a ballot box; there were no machines.
But these are modern times with the "benefit" of Progress.
Pennsylvania County That Ran Out Of Paper Ballots Fails To Certify Election Results
And "we're proud to be Americans where at least we can be free", etc.
Well, if certain interests prevail and we transition to an all-electric, green energy system before such is feasible, we'll soon enough be back to paper ballots. The only thing remaining is whether it will then be an Election Year.
