FORGET COVID, we now have bigger fish to fry

In today's Miami Herald the lede story concerns an outbreak of monkeypox and even worse- meningitis.
Vaccines are available, but these diseases are largely off the radar with the concentration on Covid vaccinations.
The Monkey Pox has been widely written about but I was surprised about meningococcal virus which can take a patient from
zero to dead in as little as two days and can create a myriad of horrible effects from brain infections to blood infections that
can lead to loss of limbs. So far there are only 48 documented cases in Florida of which 25% have died. It is spread by
sneezing, coughing or direct contact with respiratory secretions. Both viruses are said to spread thru close physical
contact/sex, sharing food/drinks. contact with body fluids. In FL the epicenters seem to be the Orlando area and South
Florida. The meningococcal cases began to appear in December and the Monkey Pox in May.
It seems that maybe miracle medicines like those used for COVID are needed yesterday. And increased production of the
vaccines. Testing....? I guess the question is, is there enough money in it?
