It is true that not all HIV victims are male, but 80% are.  One can make the case it is not the gender of the person, but their chosen sex acts AND (most importantly) the number of partners and protections taken.  Preliminary data indicates it is the same with Monkey Pox. I am entertained by the government's eagerness to shut down the economy, force people to wear ineffective protections, and close open air gathering spots a year ago for COVID, but seem unwilling to even inform gay men and others of the actual hazard. Instead using the phrase, "close personal [corrected] contact."  

What does "close personal [corrected] contact" mean?  Is it shaking hands?  Dancing?  What? If the at risk community would refrain from "close personal [corrected] contact" for a month or so, Monkey Pox would disappear, but apparently that is soo much to ask.

For some context: the last major US smallpox (very similar to monkeypox) epidemic occured in Boston from 1901-03 with a 17% mortality rate. Then based on spotty records in the early 20th century worldwide an estimated 10-15 million people got it with about 5 million dying. No one ever felt it necessary to comment on sexual preference. Gays are hardly the only folk exchanging body fluids. (so romantic.) 

An online article I read said: You could get it simply by shaking hands with an infected person...who has blisters (I think) on his/her hands. Most of us with eyesight will not touch such a person ungloved anyway.

Maybe "patient zero" this time was a gay man who shook hands with a straight person and passed it along. Or maybe "patient zero" was the straight one. The point seems to be people who engage in risky behavior at bars, music festivals, seedy motels, courtrooms or airplane bathrooms...for example are at risk.

Mr. Internet tells me: it's contagious from the onset of a fever or rash....and "typically" people remain contagious until the lesions that develop crust, dry or fall off. Communication is from close contact with lesions, body fluid, respiratory droplets and contaminated materials such as bedding! Sounds like chicken or small pox just maybe uglier. Abigail Adams had her whole family infected by a Dr. as a rather risky vaccine. She wrote John Adams that as it was ramant in the Continental ARmy it was believe that passing money spread the pox. a compelling reason for cryptocurrency?

So theoretically if I  rode the subway, I'd stop. If I sat on a chair anywhere but my house, I'd stand. I'd bring my own bedding and maybe bed when traveling. I would have no human contact except through layers of haz met material. Well darn, that's what I'm doing now so I guess I'm safe. 

Dangerous either way. I never take a train or subway....once had an obvious "just out of jail" guy toss an old lady in my lap and proceed to strangle his fellow inmate. True story. I found this interesting:
