A couple of Congressmen have proposed legislation "Local Coverage Determination Clarification Act" (HR 5721) to address the often capricious decision making and the me-too, follow-the-leader determinations across the MAC community.
The bill was introduced to the House on 5/17/16, whereupon it was referred to the House Judiciary Committee (no idea why that one). On 5/20/16, it was referred to (if you thought Judiciary was odd..) the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice.
If eventually passed as written, the provisions of the bill shall be implemented by 10/1/17.
