"Don't Go Down The Rabbit Hole" - NYTimes Decries Critical Thinking, Tells Americans To Trust Google Instead
A new article from the New York Times claims that instead of engaging with someone that challenges your worldview, you should “resist the lure of Rabbit Holes” and go to more authoritative sources such as Google and Wikipedia.
My note: Depending on your worldview, of course, confirmation of same would certainly be available from Google and Wikipedia. Depending on your worldview, confirmation of same is much more pleasant than that laborious and unpopular "critical thinking." In fact, any kind of "thinking" is probably best left to the "authoritative sources."
This is not a new idea. In fact, this short documentary illustrates that, for centuries, experts in their respective fields have rejected out of hand the absurdity of challenging ones own worldview. And now thanks to Google and Wikipedia, the process of such rejection of challenges is made simple and clear. But this is how they did it way back when:
"For every complex problem, there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong."
