The Pentagon confirmed to CNN that the ships would provide 2,000 additional hospital beds to the city's capacity. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday that 50,000 extra hospital beds are needed.
My note: Cuomo has also said he wants the Army Corp of Engineers to help build more hospitals/hospital units.
And then there has been talk of rescuing the now moribund cruise industry.
Which would be more cost effective and timely, building new hospitals and all the red tape that goes with that, land acquisition, etc, or modifying cruise ships to compliment the two navy hospital ships?
The Princess fleet is comprised of 20 ships! That would be around 50K beds, maybe more.
And that would solve, or go to solving, two big problems. Or I could be totally wrong.
