Friends-
A stock that I have been following for the past year is Novocure NVCR. It is a new cancer treatment modality that uses electronic fields to interrupt the "mitosis" of hyper-replicating cancer cells with low level electronic fields. NVCR has FDA approval for the very cancer that our heroic and superlative role model Sen. John McCain has been diagnosed with (GBM). I am hopeful (it is hard to say without the pathology and unique circumstances) that Mayo will advise the use of the Novocure's Optune medical device to treat this devastating disease.
It's approval is based on a survival improvement 50 % better than the standard chemo therapy. Also, it was the first advancement for GBM brain cancer approved by the FDA in the last 15 years.
I'll close with the long side pitch and a prayer for Sen. McCain. It has been under development, in Israel, for over 15 years. In that time it has been validated in vitro as effective for all solid tumor cancers. Take a look at their website and see the trials in late stage progress for lung,ovarian, pancreatic, mesothelioma.
The important thing to remember is that this is not being proposed as the magic bullet. But it clearly is a powerful synergy to existing chemotherapy. BTW, it is equally synergistic with emerging immuno-therapy. If you want to dig for yourself see what oncologists are saying.
I'll stop now. I have no other agenda than my modest positions and the belief that this is one of the biotech issues we all try and follow here that might yield some outsize results. I hope that this will be the case for one of my personal heroes.
