How About Life Insurance? Meh

The narrative was overblown, undoubtedly for political gain and selling eyeballs.  However, if you think about it, the vast majority that perished had overwhelming comorbidities that factor in. Likely these same clients are either charged a lot (probably prohibitively) already or denied coverage. It was pretty clear early on that death was not a large threat under 55 if you were otherwise healthy. Not to say it wouldn't/couldn't happen, but that is was a much lower possibility. Therefore, the risk of large amounts of claims low and negligible in the grand scheme.

For me it was always a matter of local ICU beds, and the capacity to deal with other things non-COVID that kept me awake at night (not to mention We the People buying up all the T.P. and filling plastic bags with gas). Our nurses/doctors were burnt out in the hardest hit areas, I know a few, and they are people like you and me. Prone to make mistakes when burnt out working 80 hours a week.

I am smart enough to realize the bigger picture and how it can affect me regardless of the personal risk (2nd and 3rd order effects). But the government uses a horse blanket to throw over those TP raiders and Gasoline Bandits to make sure they too understand there is some tertiary risk. Maybe they went too far? I've said before we never will know if we did. But we would have known if we didn't go far enough if the body county was 4 times what it was.

I personally never liked all the national attention that covid drew, was adamant it should be a local/state decision based on ICU beds. The Federal government should have closed the borders, sourced PPE, jump started vaccines, and then compiled data for Governors, Cities, counties to use. The CDC had a much too loud a mouth piece and was wagging the policy dog from the beginning. Part of that is politics. Part of that is a lack of respect for the former President, both because of politics and himself. He didn't do himself any favors either with his slash and burn mentality, say one thing/mean another, etc. I think that potentially exacerbated any credibility anyone was willing to give him, and they filled that vacuum with Dr. Worker's Party CCP Fauci (should be settle on Fauci-stein?).
