Are you taking any protective measures before earnings?

I created a collar by selling an OTM covered call to create the cash to buy 4.5P.  OPK appears to sell off to some point above the 200 EMA the last few ER.  And, if my covered's go in the money and get called, they are far enough OTM that I would still be happy with the sale.  It's not my entire position.  

But now that I have made this trade...and I am an OPK contrarian indicator (not by choice), I expect it will sky rocket post ER...

Give me a cross, a stake, and some very pungent garlic. Put them in a blender with a management shuffle, a Teledoc joint venture, and a package deal sale of SARM and Oxyntomodulin (and we'll throw in floor mats shaped like the inhaler for free), and THAT cauldron of action will serve as precious poison for the shorties.

This reminds me of another formula we can use.  Just need a duck, a set of scales, and all the paper certificates for the 670M shares.

Peasant 3: More witches! [receives a punch from Peasant 1; silence]

Belvedere: So, why do witches burn? [more silence]

Peasant 2: Because there made of wood?

Belvedere: Exactly!

Peasant 2: So if she weighs as much as a duck she is made of wood.

Peasants: A witch!

Belvedere: We shall use my largest scales.

[Having been revealed to weigh the same as a duck, therefore proving her a witch, the crowd goes insane]

Witch: It's a fair cop.

I did not take any protective measures, but am not counting on prayer either. This is odd given I would have happily sold at Christmas for $5. Having failed back then, I did look at selling covered calls, but did not feel I was being sufficiently rewarded for the potential lost profit. I like the concept of the collar, but must admit the strategy is too sophisticated for me and looks more like gambling than just holding.  

i see an analogy in poker.  I have a hand that could improve, but is not currently "the nuts," so I check and wait to see the next card.  It may help me a lot, or hurt me a little or be another brick. In any case, I think it best to just see the card.
