Robinhood Takes the Cake..and Your Money

BTW, as a final note (as far as you know), the people who got sold out impromptu, no notice, no margin call, were most likely sold to Robinhood who was short their client's positions. Who then quickly profited during regular hours and massively profited during after hours.

But, aside from the egregious nature of this scam, nothing new about your own broker taking the other side of your trade. Pretty much SOP for these things. And, as I said, this has been going on, this rigged game, forever. I own 3 books penned by a one-time Hollywood actor-turned-investment advisor called Richard Ney (out of print for a long time, but one might stumble upon one here or there for resale as I did).

A book called The Wall Street Jungle (copyright 1970) had a preface which described a tour of the trading floor of the NSYE given to one Lucky Luciano:
