I recently read Niels Kaastrup-Larsen's book "How to Master Managed Futures" and I want to learn more about the actual strategies involved in buying futures from the ground up. I would like to start a portfolio with about $50K but I am unsure if this is even enough to get started in futures. Does anyone have any advice or is willing to point me in the right direction?

A little late here, but how are things going regarding your futures ambitions? I started programming algo-strategies for futures this spring. Mainly Tradestation and CME futures for now. Still developing and testing my strategies on papermoney or small amounts. Have a 20k portfolio for this purpose at this stage. Plan to expand later on.

I guess 50k to 100k could be a good starting point for some strategies. However, smaller amounts OK when trading micro futures and similar.
